A Web Wise North Premium-tier build · demonstration
Faulks House, Hawes.
A fictional nine-room boutique hotel in the Yorkshire Dales. Faulks House isn't a real business — it's our proof of what Premium looks like when the brief is hospitality. The kind of site a small, direct-booking hotel needs to compete with Booking.com on feel. See it live at /showcase/faulks-house.
The brief.
A nine-room boutique hotel in Hawes needs a website that earns direct bookings — so it doesn't have to hand 15% to an OTA on every guest. The site has to feel like a small, confident hospitality brand (closer to The Pig, The Newt, Artist Residence than a Best Western), carry a weekly-changing menu, and let people check rates and book without friction.
Design decisions.
- Typography — Cormorant Garamond for display (the hotel name, room titles), Inter for functional text (rates, dates, policies). Earns quiet over loud.
- Palette — oat (#ede4d3) and parchment (#f5efe2) with a deep moss accent. Warm and land-rooted, not seaside-pastel.
- Imagery — wide establishing shots, room interiors with character, plated food without studio lighting.
- Navigation — small, capitalised, with an active-state rule under the current page. Nothing shouts.
- Booking prompts — present but never aggressive. Price-from tag on each room, one clear book CTA per screen.
What we built.
- 4 pages — home, rooms, dining, book
- Rooms page — three room types (Dale, Snug, Bothy), each with imagery, sq-footage, features, nightly rate from
- Dining page — chef profile, seasonal-British positioning, a live weekly-changing menu structure
- Book flow — clean check-in / check-out / guests form, direct-only messaging, no upsells
- Footer detail — walking-guide links, how to get there, local information — the things hotel guests actually search for after booking
What this would cost in real life.
A real Faulks House engagement would sit inside the Premium tier at £4,500, 4 weeks end to end. Real hotel builds often need integration with a property-management or booking system at launch — that's an add-on, scoped separately. Everything you see on the demo is in-scope at £4,500.
